English DJ and producer Sub Focus teams up with Canadian electro-pop artist Grimes for their latest single, “Entwined.” Released via Casablanca Records, the track arrives ahead of Sub Focus’ forthcoming concept album CONTACT, slated for release on November 21.
The song combines Grimes’ ethereal vocals with Sub Focus’s spatial sound design and intricate basslines. Exploring themes of science fiction, humanity, and the cosmos, the artists craft a hypnotic soundscape that feels both immersive and transcendent.
“I literally could not be more hyped on Sub Focus,” shared Grimes earlier this year. “Dance music has felt bizarrely sterile and increasingly so over time. It has been so long since I’ve felt euphoric about dance music.”
“Entwined” stands out as a mysterious and innovative piece, blending experimental textures that seem to warp the boundaries of sound and space. The collaboration highlights the synergy between two distinctive creative voices, making the title especially fitting.
Sub Focus’ fourth studio album will feature 14 dynamic, vocal-driven drum and bass tracks with guest appearances from Subsonic, Poppy Baskomb, Connie Constance, Emily Makis, and Inez. The record also includes his major collaboration with John Summit, “Go Back” featuring Julia Church, which has surpassed 151 million global streams.
This year marks a particularly strong chapter for Sub Focus, reinforcing his standing as one of the leading innovators in modern electronic music.
Sub Focus and Grimes merge ethereal vocals and cutting-edge production in “Entwined,” a captivating precursor to the forthcoming album CONTACT, defining a new high point in both artists' evolution.
