At a November 5 screening of her new film Eternity, Elizabeth Olsen shared with PEOPLE her personal routine that helps her stay centered. The actress-producer, aged 36, has kept a habit of writing in a journal every morning for the past three years.
Olsen explains the impact of this practice: “You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand.” She describes journaling as a way to pause and organize her mind each day.
The content varies daily. “Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday,” Olsen says, “Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything.”
Her writing also supports her creative process, especially for acting projects like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Eternity. She adds, “It's really helpful for work. I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for [creating a] character.”
Olsen attended the special Los Angeles screening of Eternity alongside her husband, Robbie Arnett.
