All-New Toyota Hilux Debuts Globally With All-Electric Powertrain

Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an all-electric variant for the first time. This marks a significant step forward for the brand’s iconic pickup, which now combines traditional durability with modern electrification.

Powertrain and Variants

Alongside the new all-electric version, Toyota continues to offer the proven 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The combination aims to deliver both performance and efficiency under various driving conditions.

“Toyota also confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version of the Hilux, which is scheduled to arrive in 2028.”

Exterior Design

The latest Hilux adopts a completely redesigned exterior that aligns closely with the styling of the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. The front features slim LED headlights with integrated DRLs and a bold closed grille showcasing the central ‘TOYOTA’ lettering. The muscular front bumper, silver lower accents, and compact LED fog lights emphasize its rugged aesthetics.

In profile, the Hilux retains its signature double-cab body and flatbed design, enhanced by newly styled aerodynamic alloy wheels. The all-electric version includes a discreet charging port located on the front fender. At the rear, vertically stacked C-shaped LED taillights and an all-black bumper maintain a powerful stance.
