Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham made NBA history with outstanding back-to-back fourth-quarter performances, scoring 19 or more points in each. This achievement places him among an elite group of players recognized for their late-game dominance.
According to the NBA’s official statistics on X, Cunningham became only the third player in the past five seasons to record consecutive fourth quarters with at least 19 points. The only others to do so were Jamal Murray and Kyrie Irving.
“Only Jamal Murray (Feb 17 and 19, 2021) and Kyrie Irving (Jan 19 and 20, 2023) had done it before,” the NBA stats account confirmed.
Cunningham joined that select list after his explosive outings on November 3 and 5, 2025. He tallied 33 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, including 19 in the fourth quarter, leading Detroit to a comeback victory. Two nights later, he added 31 points with another 19 in the final period to secure a win over the Utah Jazz.
At just 24 years old, Cunningham is displaying the poise and control typically seen in seasoned veterans. His clutch performances have become one of the standout stories of this young NBA season, suggesting his potential to become one of the league’s premier finishers if he maintains his current form.
Cade Cunningham’s consecutive 19-point fourth quarters place him among NBA elites, marking him as a rising star and the Pistons’ dependable closer.
