BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox is participating in the Great Northern Marathon Challenge to raise funds for Children In Need. Starting Monday, November 10, she is covering 135 miles on foot across four counties: Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire. This distance equals five marathons over five days.
Sara is running, jogging, and walking through northern England’s moorlands, steep ridges, and rolling hills. Along the route, she receives support from local communities and Radio 2 listeners. Her husband and three children are among those cheering her on.
Originally from Bolton, Greater Manchester, Sara now lives in London with her family and their pets, including dogs and cats. Before her broadcasting career, Sara pursued modelling and presented on Channel 4's The Girlie Show, later working on MTV and The Big Breakfast.
Sara has experienced heartbreak, including a split from her first husband. She married DJ Jon Carter in October 2001 at a secret ceremony in North London.
