Nick Pope was excluded from Newcastle United’s squad for their Premier League clash against Everton. The official reason provided by the club states that the goalkeeper is unavailable due to a minor fitness issue sustained during training earlier in the week.
A Newcastle spokesperson clarified that Pope’s absence is precautionary, emphasizing that the decision aims to prevent aggravating the issue before upcoming fixtures. In Pope’s place, Martin Dúbravka was included in the starting lineup, with Loris Karius named among the substitutes.
Newcastle United continue to manage several injury concerns as the season progresses, and Eddie Howe remains cautious with player fitness ahead of a demanding winter schedule.
“Nick experienced a slight muscular issue, and we decided not to take any risks,” the club’s representative noted.
