Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo join Shrek 5 voice cast as Shrek and Fiona’s sons

Casting announcement

DreamWorks has revealed that Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo have joined the voice cast of “Shrek 5.” The announcement appeared on the film’s official Instagram account in a playful post featuring a text-style exchange between the two actors.

“The Brogres have entered the chat.”

According to Universal Pictures, Hernandez and Gisondo will voice two of Shrek and Fiona’s ogre children, Fergus and Farkle. The characters are returning as part of the next chapter set in the land of Far Far Away.

Who the new stars are

Marcello Hernandez is a comedian and cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” and he has also appeared in projects like “Happy Gilmore 2” and the upcoming comedy “72 Hours.” Skyler Gisondo is known for roles in “Superman,” “The Righteous Gemstones,” “Booksmart,” and “Licorice Pizza,” as well as previous voice work in animated projects.

Both actors are described as rising talents whose comedic and acting experience made them strong choices to expand the Shrek family on screen. Their casting completes the core next-generation trio of Shrek and Fiona’s children alongside their daughter Felicia.

Returning cast and characters

The new additions join a familiar ensemble of returning stars from the earlier films. Mike Myers once again voices Shrek, Eddie Murphy returns as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz is back as Princess Fiona.

Zendaya will voice Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, continuing the focus on the ogre family’s next generation. Together, these characters form the emotional center of the upcoming movie’s story.

“Shrek 5” is being produced by DreamWorks Animation with Universal Pictures handling distribution. Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, both veterans of the Shrek franchise, are directing the film, with Brad Ableson serving as co-director.

Gina Shay returns as producer, and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri is also involved in the production. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 30, 2027.
