Campaigners have conceded defeat as the final attempt to save the Wales Air Ambulance base in Welshpool has been unsuccessful.
The Court of Appeal has refused an appeal hearing into the closure, leaving no other options available. This means that next year, the base in North Powys will be closed, and the familiar red helicopters will no longer be flying out of the local airport.
Although the closure is a significant loss, it is hoped that a land vehicle will be introduced to replace the air ambulance, providing round-the-clock immediate responses for the local area.
