Co-Chairman: Francesco Marincola, Professor, USA

Dr Marincola is the Chief and Professor of Infectious Disease and Immunogenetics Laboratory Section (IDIS) in DTM, responsible for overseeing two research laboratories and one clinical diagnostic laboratory. He was appointed as the Associate Director for genomic studies of the Trans-NIH Center for Human Immunology in 2008, and then the Director of FOCIS Center for Excellence in Immunology in 2009.
 
Dr. Marincola obtained his Medical Doctor degree at University of Milan, Italy in 1978. He rose to the position of Chief Surgical Resident at Stanford University, but it was at NIH where he found his niche. He first joined NCI in July 1990 as Clinical Associate, and he rapidly ascended to Director of the HLA Laboratory with a joint appointment at the Clinical Center, which has become the focus of trans-NIH
 
Dr. Marincola has made a great contribution in promoting translational medicine worldwide. He lunched the Journal of Translational Medicine as the Editor-in-Chief far before the importance of Translational Medicine was being recognized. He has extensive bibliography, now encompassing more than 400 papers or manuscripts published in peer reviewed journals, being a testament to his teamwork-oriented approach to science. He holds the second most cited scientist position in the field of melanoma research for the last decade. In addition to his intramural research activities, he has successfully established productive research collaborations with extramural scientists. He is also Editor-in-Chief for ASHI Quarterly; US Senior Editor of Immunotherapy, Associate Editor for The Journal of Immunotherapy and The Journal of Immunology, Tumori, and Clinical Cancer Research; Section Editor for Expert Opinion in Biological Therapy; Editorial Board for Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy, The Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research and Annals of Surgical Oncology. He is a member Scientific Advisory Board for FDA, Pfizer Scientific, and Hybrivax Inc. In addition, he has actively organized and participated in numerous scientific annual meetings and workshops in immunology and cancer immunotherapy fields. Dr. Marincola is the President the International Society of Biological Therapy for Cancer (iSBTc).
