The 2025 Fall Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake, hosted by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, concluded Sunday with an impressive 19,144 lake trout entries—surpassing last year’s total of 18,414.
A total of 335 anglers participated, with 116 submitting at least one lake trout. The Monday–Thursday catch reached 5,369, while Friday–Sunday produced 13,775 fish, both exceeding the 2024 figures of 3,811 and 14,603 respectively.
Veteran fisherman Terry Krogstad of Kalispell earned the Top Angler title with 1,206 lake trout over his best 18 days, averaging 57.83 per day. Other leading competitors included:
“Jens Gran of Polson won all three of the Mack Days Bucket of Fish contests with a total of 93.65 pounds of lake trout,” reported CSKT Fisheries.
The growing participation and higher catch totals reflect both strong community engagement and healthy Flathead Lake fishing conditions.
