Global air traffic experienced a 3.6% year-on-year increase in September 2025, while cargo grew by 2.9%. Both sectors exhibited slower growth, indicating moderated demand near the end of the year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Passenger traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPK), rose 3.6% compared to September 2024, down from 4.6% in August. The Passenger Load Factor (PLF) for the industry was 83.4%, slightly below 83.5% recorded last year.
Flight schedules are expected to expand by 3.0% year-on-year in November, suggesting continued but slower activity in the last quarter of 2025.
The cargo segment maintained growth but showed signs of further slowdown. Global air freight demand, measured in Cargo Tonne-Kilometers (CTK), rose by 2.9% year-on-year, down 1.1 percentage points from August’s rise.
