Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honor veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day by offering them free transit on Tuesday, November 11. Holiday fares will apply to other passengers on that day.
Eligibility for Free Transit
Free transit is available to:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals must present a badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or appear in uniform to access free transit.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and others eligible for free transit do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open between 8 a.m. and the end of service.
Additional Recognition and Activities
TransLink also acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans for their sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
