Celebrity chef talks about his new book that he will be signing at Waterstones in Morpeth

Rick Stein Discusses His New Christmas Book

Renowned chef and television personality Rick Stein will visit Waterstones in Morpeth on Thursday, November 13, to sign copies of his latest release, Rick Stein’s Christmas. Before the event, Caroline Dominey spoke with him about the inspiration behind the book and his thoughts on what makes Christmas special.

How the Book Came to Be

“It came about simply because my wife Sarah has said for years, ‘I think you should do a Christmas book’.”

Stein explained that his Australian wife Sarah has long encouraged him to create a Christmas cookbook, as she adores celebrating the holiday in the UK. Once he began recalling festive recipes and traditions, the book came together naturally. He described the project as a joyful tribute to a season that holds deep meaning for many people.

What Makes Christmas Special

For Stein, Christmas is all about the food and the joyful atmosphere that surrounds it. He cherishes traditional dishes and seasonal creations that bring people together.

Beyond the kitchen, Stein has a deep appreciation for the music of the season.

“I also actually really love Christmas songs. There is a whole piece in the book about Christmas No 1’s! And I’ve always loved carols and carol services.”

His affection for Christmas melodies and gatherings adds warmth and nostalgia to his new book, making it both a culinary and cultural celebration of the season.

Author's Summary

Rick Stein invites readers into his cherished Christmas traditions, blending festive recipes with heartfelt reflections on music, memories, and togetherness.
