Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, shared how her young children are coping after Charlie was assassinated nearly two months ago at a Utah University event. In an interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters, Erika revealed that her three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son still ask about their father often, especially the daughter.
During the interview, Erika became emotional while discussing how she explains their father's absence to her kids.
"After Charlie's death, I told my children that their father has gone on a work trip with Jesus."
Erika explained how her daughter continues to ask about their father’s whereabouts.
"My daughter continues to ask. But it is really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things. I said, if you ever want to talk to Daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you."
Trying to hold back tears, Erika added what her daughter said in response to being told Daddy is in heaven.
"And I told her, you know Daddy is in heaven. She goes, 'You think I could go sometime?' I said, 'Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.'"
Erika Kirk tenderly shared how her daughter seeks comfort in talking to her late father, showing the deep impact of loss on a young child.
