13 bus was cancelled 21 times in a single day

Transport Problems in Clondalkin

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has been requested to address ongoing public transport issues in Clondalkin following complaints raised at a recent community forum. Residents have faced repeated disruptions due to unreliable bus services, prompting calls for an NTA representative to attend future meetings on the subject.

Concerns Highlighted by Councillors

Councillor Darragh Adelaide emphasized the severe impact of these issues on local residents. He noted that:

“The 13 coming through Clondalkin was listed as one of the most cancelled buses in Dublin. These are issues that are affecting a lot of people, particularly older people who, if a bus is cancelled, they’re left there waiting in the cold. Same with people with disabilities, people with young kids, but also people trying to get to work.”

Significant Cancellation Rates

The bus route 13, running between Grange Castle and Mountjoy Square, was cancelled 21 times in one day—Wednesday, October 15—reflecting a cancellation rate of 13%. Most cancellations happened near the route’s starting stop.

Route Disruptions at Bawnogue

Councillor Eoin Ó Broin mentioned that during ongoing works in the Bawnogue area, buses have sometimes skipped this stop. He explained:

“What can happen is that the bus skips Bawnogue in order to get back on track because when they’re late, they get fined by the NTA.”
Summary

Repeated cancellations and route deviations of the 13 bus severely impact vulnerable residents and workers, urging immediate attention from transport authorities.
