'Today's Craig Melvin Makes Surprising Confession During 'Jenna & Friends' Cohosting Debut

Craig Melvin's 'Jenna & Friends' Cohosting Debut Sparks Amusing Confession

Several personalities from Today made their first appearances as cohosts on Jenna & Friends this week. Craig Melvin's debut alongside Jenna Bush Hager on the show's fourth hour began with a humorous twist.

During Monday, November 3's episode, Melvin complimented the set, saying, “This is a nice set,” before surprising everyone by admitting, “You know, I’ve never seen the show.”

“That is so rude,” Jenna Bush Hager responded, caught off guard by the confession.

Melvin explained his unfamiliarity was due to his schedule. He noted, “Well, because usually, we’re just getting off,” referring to the third hour of Today that airs before Jenna & Friends. “I’m usually in transit, but this is nice. … I know, I could probably watch some of it.”

At the start of the show, Melvin praised Bush Hager’s success as the cohost, highlighting her ability to work with different celebrity guests after Hoda Kotb's departure in January.

“What you have managed to do over the last few months on this show, from just a purely broadcasting perspective, as the kids would say, real recognize[s] real,” he said. “To be able to sit next to someone different every day or two and do this, that’s a feat.”

Melvin’s lighthearted honesty and admiration set a friendly tone for his first joint appearance with Bush Hager on the program.

Author's summary: Craig Melvin's first cohosting stint on Jenna & Friends featured a candid admission of never watching the show, balanced by praise for Jenna Bush Hager's impressive adaptability as host.
