Erika Kirk, widow of the assassinated US conservative activist and Israel advocate Charlie Kirk, will accept an award on his behalf at the Christian Media Summit in Jerusalem this week, according to the Government Press Office (GPO).
Israel is hosting more than 100 prominent Christian leaders at the four-day summit, organized by the GPO, the Foreign Ministry, and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. The event includes an award ceremony recognizing individuals for their “exceptional contribution” to Israeli public diplomacy worldwide.
Four months prior to his assassination during a US college appearance, Kirk wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He criticized Israel’s social media engagement, suggested improvements for public diplomacy, and offered to meet with Netanyahu to discuss these issues.
The summit occurs amid contentious debate among US conservatives regarding antisemitism and anti-Israel attitudes within their ranks.
“Over 100 representatives of leading Christian media outlets, opinion leaders, religious figures, and heads of organizations from various countries” are expected to attend the summit, according to the Government Press Office.
Charlie Kirk wrote to Prime Minister Netanyahu recommending ways to improve Israel's public diplomacy and offered to meet on the subject.
Erika Kirk will represent her late husband at a major international summit, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen Israel's public diplomacy and Christian-Jewish relations worldwide.
