Tim David smashed the longest six ever in T20 International cricket, helping Australia reach a commanding total of 186 against India in the third T20 match at Hobart on Sunday night.
After the first T20 was abandoned due to rain in Canberra, Australia took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series with a four-wicket victory at the MCG on Friday. In Hobart, following early dismissals of Travis Head and Josh Inglis, Tim David arrived at the crease and dominated the Indian bowling attack, hitting a rapid half-century off just 23 balls.
David was in formidable form, sending Indian spinner Axar Patel’s delivery soaring down the ground. The massive shot was on course to clear the stadium but struck the Ninja Stadium sign atop the David Boon Stand. It traveled an estimated 129 metres, marking it as the longest six ever recorded in T20 internationals according to Fox Cricket’s statisticians.
Fox Cricket commentator Mark Howard said, “That’s coming into the commentary box! It was nearly in the Derwent (River)!"
The 129-metre distance was calculated based on where the ball would have landed had it not hit the sign, making it a historic moment in cricket.
Author’s Summary: Tim David made cricket history with the longest six in T20 international, electrifying Australia’s innings against India and showcasing his power-hitting prowess.
