Tiffany Haddish and Asante Blackk star together in the upcoming sci-fi drama Landscape With Invisible Hand, based on M.T. Anderson's novel. The film premieres in theaters on August 18.
Set years into a seemingly benevolent alien occupation of Earth, humanity struggles to adapt to new rulers known as the Vuvv—small, coffee table-sized beings with advanced technology. Although their innovations promised prosperity, most human jobs became obsolete, eliminating steady income for many.
Seventeen-year-old artist Adam Campbell (Asante Blackk) and his girlfriend Chloe Marsh (Kylie Rogers) discover the Vuvv’s fascination with human love and realize they can profit by livestreaming their relationship. Their earnings support both their families, creating a brief period of hope and stability.
However, as their teenage romance fades, they face difficult and surreal decisions that significantly impact their lives and those they care about.
"The Vuvv's flashy advanced technology initially held promise for global prosperity, but rendered most human jobs – and steady income – obsolete."
"When 17-year-old artist Adam Campbell and new girlfriend Chloe Marsh discover the Vuvv are fascinated with human love and will pay for access to it, they decide to livestream their budding romance."
Author's summary: The film explores the impact of alien rule on human society through a teenage couple’s struggle to survive in a world where love becomes a commodified escape.
