SAN ANTONIO – This Halloween, Spurs forward Julian Champagnie swapped his basketball jersey for a Scooby-Doo costume to surprise children at Methodist Children’s Hospital.
Champagnie, accompanied by the Spurs' mascot Coyote, handed out candy, took photos, and interacted warmly with young patients, adding to the festive atmosphere of the hospital’s annual Halloween event.
Each year, Methodist Children’s Hospital transforms with elaborate themes and decorations. Staff members participate by wearing costumes and take part in reverse trick-or-treating, where leadership visits patients in their rooms to distribute treats.
"I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see the actual walking dream. I didn’t think I was this special, but he made me feel like I was."
– Jamal Magee, patient
"I appreciate the hospital for giving me this opportunity. For him to stop by and show some love meant so much to me. It’s hard to describe."
The surprise visit helped bring smiles and warmth to young patients during a special holiday celebration at the hospital.
Summary: Julian Champagnie’s Halloween visit to Methodist Children’s Hospital lifted spirits with costumes, treats, and heartfelt moments, creating a memorable day for young patients.
