The Los Angeles Angels have added veteran pitching coach Mike Maddux to the staff of new manager Kurt Suzuki, marking the first confirmed member of Suzuki’s coaching team. The Angels plan to announce their full coaching staff once finalized.
Maddux, 64, has extensive experience as a pitching coach, having worked with four MLB teams: the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, and St. Louis Cardinals. He served two separate terms as the Rangers’ pitching coach, including the last three seasons under manager Bruce Bochy.
Despite the Rangers offering Maddux a contract extension under their new manager Skip Schumaker, he chose instead to join the Angels' coaching staff.
Mike Maddux said nothing public, but the move signals confidence in new Angels management.
Mike Maddux is also recognized as the older brother of Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux.
Mike Maddux, a proven pitching coach credited with guiding the Rangers to the best ERA in 2025, joins the Angels to support Kurt Suzuki’s new leadership.
