Mike Maddux’s Coaching Career
Maddux, 64, has extensive experience as a pitching coach, having worked with four MLB teams: the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, and St. Louis Cardinals. He served two separate terms as the Rangers’ pitching coach, including the last three seasons under manager Bruce Bochy.
Achievements with the Texas Rangers
- In 2025, Maddux led the Texas Rangers to the lowest ERA in the majors, a remarkable 3.47.
- His coaching staff included elite pitchers such as Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi.
- He was part of the Rangers’ teams that reached consecutive World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011 under former Angels manager Ron Washington.
Decision to Join the Angels
Despite the Rangers offering Maddux a contract extension under their new manager Skip Schumaker, he chose instead to join the Angels' coaching staff.
