The "Long Bridge" project in Virginia will require a five-hour midday work window.
Starting in January, no freight or passenger trains will cross the Potomac River between Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Va., from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., seven days a week, for up to five years.
This will accommodate construction on a $2.3 billion, four-track bridge to replace the existing double-track "Long Bridge" built in 1904.
