Netflix has released the opening five minutes of the much-awaited Stranger Things Season 5, taking fans back to the time when Will Byers disappeared in the first season. This preview arrives just days before the final season premieres on digital platforms.
Return to Hawkins Library and the Upside Down
The brief preview does not reveal much about the new storyline but revisits the initial events, showing Will Byers vanishing and later being found by his mother Joyce and Police Chief Jim Hopper. These scenes unfold at the Hawkins Library located in the Upside Down.
Time Jump and Opening Scene
Season 5 starts 18 months after the last season’s events. In the first episode, a 12-year-old Will is shown trapped in the Upside Down, visibly tired, confused, and trembling. He sings The Clash’s "Should I Stay or Should I Go", a song introduced to him by his brother in Season 1, serving as a significant reminder for both Will and the audience.
Confrontation with the Demogorgon
While singing, Will hears strange sounds outside and hesitates. Suddenly, the Demogorgon crashes into a castle nearby. Will shoots the creature with a hunting rifle, almost escaping. He then climbs a tree seeking a way out but is discovered by the Demogorgon, who throws him to the ground.
