Livinia Nixon Embraces New Chapter with Bright Outlook

Livinia Nixon, the beloved weather presenter known for starting her on-air career with Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, will continue appearing on popular shows Postcards and Getaway. After 20 years as Nine's long-time weather presenter, Nixon is stepping down from her nightly weather segment this month.

End of an Era

“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,”

Nixon, 50, reflected with a laugh following the announcement made on Friday afternoon. She said she is looking forward to “a breather” after two decades in the role.

Continuing with Nine and Family Focus

Though stepping away from nightly briefings, Nixon will stay with Nine, continuing her roles on the travel shows Getaway and Postcards. The decision was driven by her desire to spend more time with her family, especially as her youngest son Ted begins high school alongside his older brother Henry.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,”

Nixon explained, emphasizing how much she valued the privilege of entering people's homes nightly. Her children also expressed excitement about spending more time with her, saying,

“We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.”

Memorable Moments on Air

One standout moment for Nixon was a live weather segment at Healesville Sanctuary, where she had a green tree python wrapped around her neck. The snake squeezed tightly and even tried to slither inside her jacket, prompting her to read the weather as quickly as possible.

“I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life.”
