After a 20-year tenure as Melbourne’s most beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon announced she will step down from her position at 9News Melbourne.
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and became the 9News Melbourne weather presenter in 2004. She has decided to prioritize her family as her sons enter their senior school years. Her final weather broadcast will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
Although Livinia is stepping back from weather presenting to support her family, she will continue her roles on popular travel programs, Getaway and Postcards, remaining a valued member of the Nine Network.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.
Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’
I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Summary: Livinia Nixon is leaving her long-standing weather presenter role at 9News Melbourne to focus on family but will continue her work on Nine’s travel shows.
