9News Melbourne is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most beloved personalities this month. Livinia Nixon, the city's favorite weather presenter, will deliver her final broadcast on November 18 after more than two decades with the network.
Nixon joined 9News Melbourne in 1997 and has been the primary weather presenter since 2004. Now aged 50, she announced her departure on Friday, explaining her desire to prioritize family as her sons begin their important schooling years.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," Livinia said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Livinia emphasized that presenting the weather has been a defining part of her career and life, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," she said. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although stepping down from her regular weather duties, Livinia will continue her association with the Nine Network in other roles.
