9News Favourite Livinia Nixon Announces Exit

After two decades as the weather presenter at 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon will step down, while continuing her other roles with the Nine Network.

Career Highlights

Livinia Nixon began her career with the Nine Network in 1997 and took over as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne in 2004. She has since become one of the city's most beloved weather presenters.

Reason for Departure

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Nixon explained that her decision to leave the nightly weather role comes as her two sons enter their senior years of schooling. She wants to support them during this important time.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”

Future Plans

While Nixon will no longer deliver the nightly weather, she will continue to appear on Nine’s travel shows Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me.”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Final Broadcast

Her last weather bulletin on 9News Melbourne will air on Tuesday, 18 November.

Author's summary: Livinia Nixon ends her 20-year run as 9News Melbourne weather presenter to focus on family, while remaining active in Nine’s travel programs.
