Prince Harry Opens Up About His British Pride in Moving Essay — 'Though Currently I May Live in the U.S.'

Prince Harry Reflects on British Pride and Remembrance Day

Prince Harry shared a heartfelt essay exploring British identity and the meaning of Remembrance Day. As a veteran of the British Army, he reflected on service, sacrifice, and national spirit ahead of the commemorative holiday.

Titled “The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it Means to Be British – By Prince Harry,” the essay was released as he traveled to Canada for Remembrance Day ceremonies. The Duke of Sussex, 41, emphasized his admiration for the British spirit and expressed gratitude toward the military charities he supports.

“Every November, the world, for a moment, grows quieter. We pause, together, to remember. Remembrance has never been about glorifying war. It’s about recognizing its cost: the lives changed forever and the lessons paid for, through unimaginable sacrifice,” Harry wrote.

“It’s also about honoring those who, knowing that cost, still choose to serve.”

Although he currently resides in the United States, Prince Harry noted that Britain “always will be” the country he served and remains deeply connected to its people and traditions.
