Prince Harry has dismissed claims that he intentionally sought to overshadow his brother, Prince William, by announcing his own visit to Canada just as William began his five-day Earthshot Prize tour in Brazil.
The overlap between the two engagements was described as "predictable" by a royal expert, but Harry’s spokesperson rejected any notion of sibling rivalry behind the timing.
"The period of time in which we can release details of events is much more truncated than it is for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales," said the spokesperson, noting that Harry does not receive the same level of security or protection as working members of the Royal Family.
The Prince of Wales arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize. Meanwhile, Harry’s office in California confirmed plans for his trip to Canada ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Harry refuted media suggestions of rivalry with William, attributing the timing of his Canada announcement to security limits rather than deliberate competition.
