Seven neighbours in Brookmans Park will share a £1 million prize from the People's Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode, AL9 6PT, won the weekly "Millionaire Street" prize.
Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, pledged part of his and his wife Olesya's quarter-of-a-million prize to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned."
On October 9, Camphill Milton Keynes, the charity, announced that its only minibus was stolen and later found destroyed by fire.
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, Camphill's head of development, commented on the impact of the incident:
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting."
Summary: A Brookmans Park street won £1 million in the Postcode Lottery, and one winner immediately pledged to support a local charity after its minibus was stolen and burned.
