Eddie Murphy's confession over family life with 10 kids including Mel B's

Eddie Murphy Opens Up About Family and Life in “Being Eddie”

Comedy legend Eddie Murphy shares a rare and personal view of his home life and long career in the new Netflix documentary Being Eddie. Known globally for his roles as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop, Sherman Klump in The Nutty Professor, and Donkey in Shrek, Murphy has been a Hollywood favorite for over forty years.

At 64, Murphy allows cameras to capture a side of him fans have seldom seen. The film delves into his relationships with his ten children, including his daughter with Mel B, and his growth as both an artist and a father.

“There’s a great clip of Eddie on a talk show early in his career, where he talks about doing impersonations and different voices. His mom used to ask him, ‘Who’s Eddie? What voice is Eddie’s voice?’ This movie answers that question,”

said director Angus Wall.

Wall adds that this is the first time the audience truly sees Murphy as himself onscreen. The documentary explores how Murphy, inspired at 15 by a Richard Pryor comedy album, made it his mission to become a stand-up comedian by 18.

“I remember when I turned 18, comics saying, ‘Hey, man, I thought you were going to get famous when you’re 18,’”

Murphy recalls in the film.
