Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas is seriously exploring a campaign for the U.S. Senate, as she mentioned during a recent interview.
She told Politico’s Dasha Burns that she plans to invest significantly in gathering voter data before making a decision, emphasizing her analytical approach to politics.
“I’m seriously weighing it to the extent that I’m about to spend a lot of money to get data,” Crockett said. “I personally believe that Texas needs to do something different if they want different results. That’s just the bottom line.”
No Democratic candidate has captured a Senate seat in Texas since 1988. Current Senator John Cornyn is seeking reelection next year for a fifth term. Crockett indicated that her decision would likely come close to the filing deadline, noting the challenges Democrats face in statewide races.
“I’mma be flat-out with you and tell you that I don’t think that there’s a Democrat that can take out Cornyn,” she admitted.
Crockett alleged that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is directing significant funds to support Cornyn’s primary campaign. However, the NRSC did not respond to requests for comment, and this claim remains unverified.
President Donald Trump recently announced a new agreement with pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk concerning the accessibility of their obesity medications, marking another major health policy initiative.
Jasmine Crockett may soon join the Senate race, signaling renewed Democratic ambitions in Texas despite the party’s long-standing statewide setbacks.
