The Boston Bruins (9-7-0) edged the Ottawa Senators (6-5-3) with a 3-2 overtime win on Thursday night. Goals from Morgan Geekie, Sean Kuraly, and Pavel Zacha lifted Boston past Ottawa’s scorers Michael Amadio and Claude Giroux.
Despite being outshot 9-2, Ottawa finished the opening period ahead. Shane Pinto connected with Amadio on a 2-on-1 breakaway, and Amadio fired a quick shot past Joonas Korpisalo’s glove to make it 1-0.
Just 82 seconds into the second frame, Geekie leveled the score. After Andrew Peeke’s shot from the blue line, Geekie pushed in the rebound for his 10th goal of the season. Later, Kuraly gave Boston a 2-1 lead on a wrist shot from the low slot that deflected off Ullmark’s shoulder and found the net. The play developed when the Senators overcommitted to Tanner Jeannot on the boards, leaving Kuraly unmarked in front.
Ottawa equalized at 11:52 of the final frame. Giroux unleashed a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle that slipped through Korpisalo and barely crossed the goal line.
In the tense overtime session, Zacha capitalized on a loose puck with under six seconds remaining, sealing the Bruins’ victory. Boston outshot Ottawa 25–22, went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Ottawa finished 0-for-2.
“It was a hard-fought game, and both teams created chances,” Bruins coach said postgame.
