President Donald Trump recently cited Walmart’s promotional Thanksgiving meal bundle as proof of lower grocery prices in 2025.
Walmart announced in October a 25% price cut on their Thanksgiving dinner bundle, now costing less than $40, according to multiple news outlets.
Notable omissions from the bundle include onions, celery, sweet potatoes, chicken broth, poultry seasoning, muffin mix, marshmallows, whipped topping, and pecan pie.
“Grocery prices are way down, and Walmart just announced that the cost of their standard Thanksgiving meal — this is the greatest, their greatest. It is 25% lower than one year ago. That’s a big deal.” — President Donald Trump, American Business Forum
While the price of Walmart’s Thanksgiving bundle is lower in 2025, the reduction reflects fewer items included compared to the previous year, a detail President Trump did not mention.
Lower prices on promotional bundles can mask fewer included products, so evaluating overall value matters beyond the sticker price.
