Weekend Storms Hit North, East in Weather Forecast

Weekend Storms Hit North and East

Hello, Miriam from the Bureau with your National Weather Forecast for Saturday, November 8, and a brief look ahead to Sunday.

Queensland Weather

Expect milder than average temperatures across much of eastern Queensland, with cooler conditions further inland. The coast will experience fairly settled weather, except for some showers along the north-east tropical coast. Showers and storms will move in from the west due to a low-pressure trough, affecting the far north-west, central, and southern inland parts.

Severe storms are possible in the southern Darling Downs and Granite Belt areas. Moderate rainfall may occur in the southern inland and far north-west. These storms might reach the south-east coast late Saturday evening or overnight into Sunday morning.

In Brisbane, expect a couple of showers with a high temperature of 31°C.

New South Wales Forecast

A cold front will pass through central and eastern New South Wales, bringing a strong southerly wind change. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast across most eastern areas, especially along the north-east and east central coasts.

"We're likely to see fairly settled weather along the coast, just a few showers continuing about the north-east tropical coast."
"Those storms may reach the south-east coast late tomorrow evening, if not in the overnight period into Sunday morning."
"Our cold front will move through the central and eastern areas, bringing a strong southerly wind change and also widespread showers and thunderstorms to most eastern areas."

Summary: A low-pressure system will trigger storms across northern and eastern areas, with cool inland conditions and strong winds impacting Queensland and New South Wales over the weekend.
