David Taylor, formerly of Tarbolton Crescent, Hale, was convicted for stalking his former GP, who lived in fear during an eight-month campaign that began in August last year.
Taylor, aged 56, was placed on the GP practice's barred list after displaying aggressive and alarming behavior toward the doctor on the premises. Despite the ban, he continued to target her.
After being barred, Taylor found the GP's business profile page and sent messages. When blocked, he used a different account to demand the transfer of his medical records to a new doctor.
The victim repeatedly blocked Taylor’s communications as his behavior intensified, including posting inappropriate comments on her business’s Facebook page.
"Matters escalated further and became more frightening for the victim on March 26 earlier this year when she answered the door at her Knutsford home to find Taylor standing there, asking for a word."
Startled, the GP closed the door, contacted her husband, and called emergency services. Knowing her personal address, Taylor's actions left her feeling unsafe and unable to live normally.
David Taylor received one of the longest jail sentences in the country for stalking, reflecting the serious impact of his prolonged and escalating harassment on his former GP’s life.
This case highlights the deep psychological distress stalking causes and the importance of effective protection for victims.
