Three Prisoners Charged with Murder of Child Killer Kyle Bevan

Three men have been charged with murder following the death of Kyle Bevan at HMP Wakefield on Wednesday, 5 November.

Court Appearances

Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 56, and David Taylor, 63, appeared separately via video link at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Friday. All three defendants wore grey tracksuits and were remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear again at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.

Each hearing lasted just over a minute. District Judge Charlotte Holland ordered the defendants to remain in custody pending a pre-trial hearing.

Kyle Bevan was serving a minimum 28-year sentence after being convicted in April 2023 for the murder of Lola James, his partner's two-year-old daughter. Bevan inflicted fatal head injuries during a six-hour attack in 2020 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
