Sarah Snook stars in the Peacock thriller All Her Fault, marking her return to television after Succession. The series fits into the rich mom mystery genre but offers a middling experience overall.
Marissa Irvine, the protagonist, shares superficial traits with Siobhan Roy, Snook’s character from Succession. Both roles portray wealthy women with a preference for elegant, neutral-toned wardrobes and cocoon-like outerwear. However, Marissa is a self-made wealth manager living in Chicago, defined strongly by her role as a mother, which contrasts with Shiv’s more nascent motherhood exploration in Succession.
Adapted by Megan Gallagher from Andrea Mara’s 2021 novel, the story follows Marissa as she discovers her 5-year-old son Milo is missing after a playdate. The unfolding kidnapping drama explores the harrowing nightmare faced by parents and provides Snook a strong emotional platform.
“All Her Fault” allows Snook to emote with all her might, sobbing with panic and gasping in horror as Marissa’s quest to find Milo takes its inevitable twists and turns.
The series should not be confused with All’s Fair, another female-focused show that debuted the same week.
This thriller showcases Sarah Snook’s emotional range but ultimately delivers a predictable and moderate addition to the rich mom mystery genre.
