Remembrance Day, observed on Tuesday, honors Canadians who have served the nation in wars and peacekeeping missions. Several ceremonies are planned across the Waterloo region starting this weekend and continuing through Tuesday.
At dusk, visitors can place candles on the markers at the museum. The candles will remain lit until Wednesday. Candles are provided, and the public is welcome to participate.

The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 will host its annual Remembrance Day ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. The reading of the fallen begins at 10 a.m. The parade departs from Ontario Street, proceeding along King and Frederick Streets to the cenotaph on Duke Street. The service at the cenotaph will begin at 10:45 a.m.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 will hold its annual ceremony on Tuesday. The parade begins at 10:15 a.m., leading to the Waterloo Cenotaph on Regina Street beside city hall. The official service starts at 10:30 a.m., and attendees can view a ceramic poppy display inside city hall.
The parade will start at the funeral home at 291 Huron Street, marching to the cenotaph for a wreath-laying ceremony. An indoor service follows at the New Hamburg Community Centre, with a social gathering afterward at the Legion on 65 Boullee Street.
