After several days of mild fall weather, a weekend system may bring the season’s first mix of rain and snow to the Chicago area. FOX 32's Mike Caplan provides the latest weather update.
Despite a cold front moving through, plenty of sunshine is expected today. Winds will be noticeable, and temperatures will vary from the low to mid 50s in northern counties to the low 60s in southern counties.
Following the early morning showers, Friday will bring sunshine and mild temperatures, with highs in the low to mid 60s.
Saturday will start with a mix of sun and clouds. Rain is likely late in the day, and computer models increasingly indicate that cold air arriving overnight could change some rain to snow.
Both the US and European models show the possibility of this transition, although significant snow accumulation is not expected.
There will be much discussion about the exact form of precipitation Saturday night through Monday morning as this system unfolds.
The weekend brings a chance of rain mixed with snow in Chicago, though any snow accumulation looks unlikely based on current models.
