The Rams continue addressing their kicking challenges by adding Harrison Mevis to their practice squad to compete against second-year kicker Joshua Karty. This move follows the signing of veteran long-snapper Jake McQuaide to challenge Alex Ward.
“It’s all geared toward trying to be able to just get some solutions and some kick consistency really with our field-goal operation,” coach Sean McVay said. “I think it’s important to have good competition at some spots that we feel we can have improved play.”
The Rams are currently 6-2, preparing for their Sunday game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Earlier losses to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the 49ers were influenced by kicking issues, which reappeared last Sunday in their decisive win over the New Orleans Saints.
The Rams are actively pursuing improved performance on special teams, creating competition to solve their kicking inconsistencies and strengthen their field-goal operation.
