Harrison Mevis, the all-time points leader for Missouri football, has returned to an NFL practice squad. The Los Angeles Rams announced on Wednesday that they signed the former Mizzou placekicker to their practice squad.
Mevis, known as the "Thiccer Kicker" for his unique 240-pound frame at the position, was previously on the New York Jets’ roster before being waived in September. He spent the spring playing for the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League (UFL), where he made 20 of 21 field-goal attempts, achieving a 95.2% conversion rate—the second-best in the UFL behind Rodrigo Blankenship's 95.4%.
The Rams currently have Stanford alum Joshua Karty as their active kicker. Karty has struggled this season with a 66.7% field-goal conversion rate and 88.5% on point-after attempts, statistically the lowest in the NFL.
