The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes 2025 is scheduled from November 7 to 9, featuring squads from all participating teams.
The Hong Kong Super Sixes returned in 2024 after a break since 2017. Cricket has been played in the region for over 180 years, with the first recorded match occurring in 1842. Originally launched to provide Hong Kong players — whose national team had limited experience against top-tier opposition — the tournament offered a platform to compete alongside international stars. It was held annually from 1993 to 1997 and then from 2001 until 2012, before franchise T20 leagues gained popularity and shifted attention away.
The event boasts a remarkable legacy featuring legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Shane Warne.
Twelve teams are divided into four groups competing for the title over the three-day event. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. Winners advance to the semifinals, while losers enter the Plate semifinals. The lowest-ranked teams in each group will compete in the Bowl competition.
"The tournament was created to give Hong Kong players — whose national team had little exposure to top-tier opposition — a chance to rub shoulders with international stars."
Notably, an Indian Test cricket legend is set to participate in the Hong Kong Sixes following retirement from the IPL.
