Škoda Group announced that the first seven ForCity Plus 52T trams have officially entered passenger service in Prague. These trams were specially designed for the city and built at the Škoda factory in Plzeň.
The new units are part of an initial batch of 20 trams ordered by the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP). Out of this order, 13 have already been handed over, with the remaining ones expected by the end of 2025.
Under the broader framework agreement, Škoda may supply up to 200 trams. Another 20 are scheduled for delivery in 2026, and DPP holds an option to purchase up to 140 more in the future.
The trams successfully completed both type approval and homologation procedures last month. They underwent all required technical trials and covered over 20,000 kilometres, both with and without passengers, ensuring readiness for full passenger service.
To celebrate the start of passenger operations, Škoda released a short documentary showcasing the trams’ development process and the elements that make the model stand out among competitors.
The new Škoda ForCity Plus 52T trams mark a major step in Prague’s modern transport upgrade, combining Czech engineering quality and passenger comfort.
