Daniel Owen and his 15-year-old son, Cooper, were fatally stung by a swarm of hornets during a zip lining trip at Green Jungle Park near Luang Prabang, Laos. The incident happened in October, shortly before or after Daniel Owen’s 47th birthday.
The father and son, living in Vietnam, were attacked by hundreds of what appeared to be Asian giant hornets as they were leaving the tree with their guide at the adventure resort. Despite multiple stings, they were reportedly conscious upon arrival at Phakan Arocavet Clinic and did not show signs of anaphylactic shock.
They later died a few hours after being transferred to a hospital.
