Brant's Gezora Wins Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf
Owner Peter Brant, known for campaigning champion horses and winning many of the world’s top races, achieved another milestone in the closing Breeders' Cup event of 2025 with Gezora.
"I had never had a Prix de Diane winner turn around and win a Breeders' Cup race," Brant said after Gezora’s victory in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) in November.
Gezora, a 3-year-old filly, secured a hard-fought half-length win over She Feels Pretty in the Del Mar stretch, completing a rare double.
Gezora’s 2025 Campaign
- In June, Gezora won the Prix de Diane, a prestigious French classic race.
- The team considered a Breeders' Cup appearance for Gezora early on.
- In September, Gezora finished second in the Prix Vermeille (G1) against older fillies and mares.

Race Details and Strategy
Jockey Mickael Barzalona positioned Gezora in sixth place through the half-mile mark at 47.43 seconds, with Be Your Best leading.
Be Your Best remained in front entering the third turn of the 1 3/8-mile race, where the pace intensified.
