After a challenging road defeat against undefeated Harvard, Dartmouth's Big Green is ready to rebound by hosting the Princeton Tigers this Saturday. The team aims to regain momentum following last week's 31-10 loss to Harvard's potent offense and formidable defense, which left the Crimson undefeated.
Despite the setback, Dartmouth showed promising signs during a spirited third-quarter fight, demonstrating their potential to compete strongly.
“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” said head coach Sammy McCorkle. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Tight end Chris Corbo ’26, named to the 2024 All-Ivy First Team, reflected on the offensive effort despite the loss:
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone. We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 emphasized the defense's increased pressure on the quarterback in the Harvard game and their goal to maintain that performance against Princeton.
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing,” Johnson said.
Both offense and defense showed key improvements, setting a determined tone for Dartmouth’s upcoming matchup.
Summary: Dartmouth’s football team aims to build on improvements from their recent loss to Harvard as they prepare to face Princeton, highlighting both offensive resilience and defensive pressure.
