Jay Som Releases New Single “Past Lives” Featuring Hayley Williams
Jay Som is the musical project of Melina Duterte, a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. She will release her new album Belong on November 7. Ahead of the album launch, Jay Som shared the single “Past Lives,” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore.
Collaboration Background
The two artists met in Nashville to collaborate on the song, with Steph Marziano also involved in the process. Williams’ soft harmonies on the soaring track deepen its melancholy mood, capturing the feeling of drifting through highs and lows.
“It’s a dream come true to have Hayley sing on my first feature on an album before the recording of ‘Float,’ I still can’t believe it happened,” Duterte said of the collaboration.
“She’s one of the kindest artists out there and she graciously accepts and uplifts the people around her. We’re all so lucky to witness her talent and live on the same timeline as her.”
