The Clemson University men’s basketball team opened its 2025–26 season with a commanding 88–38 win over New Hampshire on Monday night at Littlejohn Coliseum. The 38 points allowed marked the fewest by Clemson in a season opener since December 11, 1946, when the Tigers defeated Erskine 58–30.
Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner from Dallas, Texas, made an impressive debut, scoring 18 points, along with three rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot.
“Buckner outscored his father, Greg Buckner (1994–98), who recorded 10 points, nine assists, and five rebounds in his Clemson debut on November 29, 1994, against Charleston Southern.”
Buckner hit 6 of 7 field goals and was perfect from the free-throw line with 6-of-7 accuracy, showcasing remarkable efficiency for his first collegiate game.
Clemson ended the first half on a dominant 15–2 run over the final six minutes, entering halftime with a 43–16 lead. A total of 12 players saw action for the Tigers, with 11 contributing points in the victory.
Clemson opened the new season with a historic 50-point triumph fueled by Ace Buckner’s standout debut and well-balanced contributions across the roster.
