Elizabeth Olsen shared that while she has always appreciated Marvel fans, it was her passion for the Los Angeles Dodgers that deepened her understanding of what fandom truly feels like. The actress explained this connection during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” ahead of the release of her new film “Eternity,” co-starring Callum Turner and Miles Teller.
Olsen appeared on the show proudly dressed in Dodgers gear, celebrating the team’s second consecutive World Series victory. She admitted feeling “overwhelmed” since the team members were also guests that night, giving her a chance to meet them in person.
In the interview, she described how her love for the Dodgers only emerged over the past few years. Fans have even started giving her Dodgers-themed gifts at comic conventions, such as a custom Scarlet Witch headpiece painted in team colors and a homemade Kike Hernandez t-shirt.
“In some ways, it’s been interesting because there are Marvel fans, and so I’m on the other end of that, right?” Olsen said. “And it wasn’t really until I started doubling down every year on the Dodgers for the last eight years — since it wasn’t my whole childhood — that I realized how much I am a fan of it.”
Jimmy Kimmel noted that she was describing how she now understands “what Marvel fans were all screaming about” — their excitement and affection, not obsession. Olsen agreed, emphasizing that it comes from love and genuine curiosity rather than fanaticism.
Elizabeth Olsen discovered through her Dodgers fandom a new empathy toward Marvel admirers, recognizing the shared passion that drives dedicated fans in both worlds.
